Take a squat break and give your body a boost! Incorporating strength-training exercises like squats in your routine not only helps manage diabetes but also burns fat and builds muscle.

How to Squat
1 | Stand with your feet parallel and just wider than hip-width. With hands clasped, extend your arms directly in front of you at chest height.
2 | Lengthen your spine by standing tall and pulling in your belly below the navel to support your lower back.
3 | Imagine you have a chair behind you and sit back until you ‘touch’ the imaginary chair.
4 | Squeeze your glute muscles, push your heels onto the floor and return to a standing position.
5 | Repeat!

SGLT-2, or the ‘flozins’, are a medication used to manage diabetes. They include Jardiance (Empagliflozin), Forxiga (Dapagliflozin) and Invokana (Canagliflozin). These medications block the absorption of excess glucose in the kidneys, leading to lower blood sugar levels and better diabetes control. They also slow the progression of kidney disease and reduce heart failure.
